Medicine questions often arrive in the least convenient moments: you are tired, the light is bad, the box looks different, or you cannot remember whether you already took something. That uncertainty is a reason to pause, not a reason to guess.

Start with the packet in front of you

Use the exact instructions on your own package or prescription. Check the medicine name, strength, directions, age guidance, warnings, and expiry information. Follow the label and never take more than it says.

Different products can contain the same active ingredient, and formulations can vary between countries or brands. A familiar name is not enough to safely fill in a missing detail.

When the label is still unclear

  • Keep the package, leaflet, and any prescription nearby.
  • Ask a pharmacist to check the exact product and instructions.
  • If you have already taken more than the label says, seek urgent medical advice rather than waiting for symptoms.
  • For a child, pregnancy, allergies, long-term conditions, or several medicines, get personalised advice from a qualified professional.
Do not guess a dose. MediMitr can help you understand general label language, but it will not invent, change, or confirm a dose when the exact product information is missing.

Know when it is an emergency

Call local emergency services immediately for trouble breathing, swelling of the face or throat, collapse, severe confusion, heavy bleeding, chest pain, or any immediate danger. If you think someone may have taken a harmful amount, contact your local poison centre or emergency service.

For everything else, the safest answer may be wonderfully ordinary: read the label, do not exceed it, and ask a pharmacist when you are unsure.
